Phase three: audiences
In Phase Three of the project the 1807 Commemorated team will work with our partner museums to examine how contemporary audiences respond to the new exhibitions, the nature of the memory and commemoration work undertaken by visitors, the consequences of the messages that people take away from the exhibitions and the extent to which these experiences feed into personal, family, regional and national identity.
The results of Phase three will be utilised to develop solutions for museum practitioners and policy-makers regarding the production, dissemination and consumption amongst the public of a history that for many still hurts. Drawing attention to the issues which are generated by this commemoration of 1807 enables the enrichment of knowledge for those involved in the representation of this traumatic past.
