This Dutch publication of an excerpt of W. E. B. Dubois’s The Souls of Black Folk has a cover with American abolitionists and activists Harriet Tubman and Sojourner Truth by artist Charles White. The press, SoMA, also published works by Booker T. Washington, Diego Rivera, Charles White and Maxim Gorki, demonstrating the link between socialism, race, art and literature.
