BLACK DRAGON (1985)

Black dragon: mineworkers' defence committee, edited by Ken Livingstone (London : Mineworkers' Defence Committee, 1985-) [Heisler] P4141  No. 6

This extremely rare publication gives a perfect illustration of the power of the Heisler collection to demonstrate and preserve the diversity of the ephemera and publishing of the British left. Black Dragon agitated and fundraised for the National Union of mineworkers, which was engaged in strike action from 1984-5. Surprisingly, Livingstone was at the time of his editorship also still Leader of the Greater London Council, although its abolition, finally enacted in March 1986, was inevitable by the time of publication of this journal.
