Emotional Objects was organised by Alice Dolan and Sally Holloway.

Sally’s research on the material culture of love during her PhD initiated her interest in what objects reveal about emotions, and both she and Alice agreed that it would be an ideal topic for an interdisciplinary conference. They hope that the conference will provide the opportunity to bring people together who wouldn’t otherwise meet (thanks to funding for travel and accommodation) and spend two days talking about what we can learn by bringing material culture and emotions together.

On our twitter account @EmotionalObject we tweet objects that relate to an emotion of the week. Themes so far have included fear, cheer, idleness and passion.
