Montagu, Ivor Goldsmid Samuel, 1904-1984, 'Roll on, Mississippi!' (London: Trinity Trust, ) [Heisler] P4122
Ivor Montagu was a film producer and writer who worked for the Daily Worker during the Second World War. His work here was published following the 1941 passage of the Lend-Lease policy in the United States of America. Montagu wrote against the result of the Lend-Lease assistance, which was very little before 1943, and called U.S. president Franklin Delano Roosevelt the ‘American Fuehrer-Duce-Caudillo’, linking him to the leaders of the Axis powers in the slowness of the U.S. to provide support and tangible assistance.
