Ethics
1807 Commemorated abides by a Code of Ethics regarding the collection of data in audience surveys. All methods of data collection have also been passed by the University of York's Ethics Committee. The 1807 Commemorated project follows a number of set principles:
- The audience surveys are completely anonymous.
- Individual surveys are conducted with the full permission of the participant.
- Participants can end the survey at anytime they choose.
- Recordings of participants' responses, whether written or audio, are anonymous and are made with the full consent and knowledge of participants.
- Audio recordings will be used only for transcription purposes and will not be used for broadcast on the web or wider dissemination.
- Details about the project will be provided to participants at the end of the interview.
- Data obtained by the project will be used only for knowledge transfer by the project team and its partners.
The cooperation of participants is vital to the project, therefore at all times participants are treated respectfully and full consideration is given to their opinions and views. This data is recorded accurately to ensure participants responses are represented correctly and to the highest possible degree.
