School work of Michael Andrews, 1952-3
Michael Andrews attended Taunton's School in Southampton. His notebook for history covers work from his third and fourth year history lessons. It is an eclectic mix of topics, arranged broadly chronologically but not a continuous outline. There is also a great variety of presentation in the notes, including two detailed annotated timelines - one covering political history of the Tudors and the other the history of education from 1800-1950. There is a study of Hampshire during the Civil War and detailed notes on enclosure in the eighteenth century illustrated with maps and diagrams. The most detailed work covers transport history - from the canals and railways to shipping in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, illustrated with many drawings and cards and small cut-out pictures stuck into the pages. Antoher detailed section includes notes on the Australian aborigines and the lives of Livingstone and Rhodes in Africa.
