School work of Monica Wafford, 1949-52

Monica Wafford attended Minchenden Grammar School, Southgate, London from 1949-54. The exercise books date from her first three years at the school. They include notes and coloured drawings, plus cyclostyled illustrations covering traditional topics in British history in chronological fashion, interspersed with unusual subjects, such as the history of medicine and the origins of the law. Monica recalls 'the Feudal system and Tudors clearly'. Her teacher 'made history come alive just talking to the class.'
